It sounds like it's running rich if you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal to start it.
It could be one of a few things:
- Bad fuel pressure regulator
- Vacuum hose between the fuel pressure regulator may have fallen off
- Bad coolant sensor (on the intake manifold flange - blue plastic top on the sensor)
- Bad Air Mass Meter
When you get it running, what's the gas mileage?
Does it run rough after you get it started?
Any Check Engine light when its running?
Have you changed the spark plugs, cap & rotor recently?
