Unfortunately moly additives only address sliding friction and don't do anything for overcoming the effects of high spot loadings that cause pinion bearing failures (or the effects of little pieces of reverse gear that damage the pinion bearing races and lead to premature failure.)
Not to mention that moly is so slippery that the synchros won't grab properly.
Changing the transmission oil to get particulates out of the unit every 2nd oil change is a good way of protecting the tranmission and it's relatively cheap.
