I have a 900 with a 4-speed and one with a 5-speed. The 4-speed is kind of a drag on the highway, especially if you live where the speed limit is 70 on interstates. Also, the 4-speed doesn't shift as well as the 5-speed (not saying much here, since we ARE talking about Saabs :-). Both gearboxes are newly rebuilt (2k miles and ~7-8k miles). If you go with the 4 speed, you need a 4-speed shifter, too, as the 5-speed shifter makes finding 3rd tough.
If you're looking to build a screamer of a car, go with the 4-speed, which is stronger and geared better down low.
