Just got a "new" 93 900 Turbo convertible. Love it so far. Had it inspected prior to purchase, and am having minor things fixed. Just a few Saab-novice questions:

1) there's a knob on the dash, to the left of the steering wheel, to the right of the fog light switch, that twists. I briefly perused the owners manual, but could not find what this knob does. It sounds like it's physically moving something (a vent??) in the dash. What does this knob do?
2) There is a relatively new convertible top on the car. It's in great shape. However, the canvas beneath the rear window is in relatively poor shape. The seller indicated that this was actually part of the rear window, and that in order to replace this tattered canvas, I would need to replace the rear window, too, to the tune of $3-400. Is there anything cheaper I can do to replace this canvas piece?

3) The car drives great, with the exception of shifting into second gear. You've got to shift below 15mph, or the gears grind. You can shift above 15 mph if you let the RPMs drop way down. The problem seems to be worse when just starting off in the AM, and worse when shifting from 1st to second than when down shifting from third. Any ideas on what's wrong?

4) Are the window switches, lock switch and convertible switch in the center console supposed to be lit at night? I imagine so, and I also imagine it's not cheap to fix. The circle around the key hole is illuminated.
