Paging SWEDECAR re: Brake & Clutch Bleeding. Posted by karl [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Hey Swedecar I did a successfull clutch transplant thanks to your excellent advice. I managed to tap the stripped slave bolthole with an M7 tap and finally hunted down an extremely hard to find M7 bolt?(apparently early VW engines use a number of them). Anyway I've decided to do the brakes as well seeing as how the resevoir needs to be bled. I know the correct order for bleeding the wheel cylinders is Lrear,Rfront,Rrear, Lfront...but at what point do I bleed the clutch? The 8mm spacer cable is still in the pressure plate and the manual cautions against pushing the pedal all the way down as you could blow out the seals? I'm going to use a "one man brake bleeding tool" so I guess I dont really have to step down on the pedal to bleed the brakes! Should I fill the resevoir and remove the spacer first? Thanx for any input Karl
