Did you pinch of the flex hose on clutch line when starting?
If so, it might be enough to open the bleed screw and let the fluid drip through all by itself. Keep the reservoir filled almost to the top so that fluid can fill the small clutch revervoir on the side (inside) brake master.
The clutch system drains and empty itself if left open.
I would remove everything and make clutch ready for use before bleeding the clutch.
Most times if system is left open and completly drained, you need to pressure bleed the system and then pump the pedal about 50 times before the clutch starts to work.
This happens 100% of the times when I replace the clutch master cylinder.
I pressure bleed the system til no more bubbles. Then I have to pump the pedal about 30-60 times before the system starts to work (really tiresome).
