As many of the readers here know, I'm highly biased, since I've been using (and selling)AMSOIL in Saabs for over 26 years now.
I'd use AMSOIL with a filter change at 5,000 miles/6 months, oil and filter change at 1 year /10,000 miles. And I'm willing to throw away oil which is still serviceable.
I've used AMSOIL synthetic ATF in my Saab automatic transmissions since it came on the market about 20 years ago. If you don't, or won't, use synthetic ATF, then change at least what comes out when you pull the plug every 15,000 miles/yearly. If it hasn't been done recently, change what comes out of the pan, drive to mix, and repeat the procedure another 2-3 times.
Don't forget to check the level of the final drive (not a bad idea to change this, too). Also, change the power steering fluid.
