The weather's been warmer than predicted, so I still haven't had any sub-freezing start-ups (this morning was just above freezing at 33°-34°F). I can definitely say the engine's quieter with M1 5W-40 & Auto-Rx than with D1300S 15W-40. I used to get a constant rapping under acceleration, & it was loudest when the car was cold. (At 160k mi, I'm guessing it's the valves in need of adjustment?) The rapping's still there when cold, but only slightly. I can't hear it at all any more once I'm out on the road.

Also, the temp gauge now rests about 1/8" lower than it did previously during my commute. I'm sure the new syn lubes in both the engine & tranny are helping to lower operating temps, which is exactly what I want to extend the tranny's life out as long as possible. Shifting's a bit better than before, but the change wasn't as dramatic as in the engine.

Combined with the quicker acceleration, I'm very pleased with the way Auto-Rx worked in the engine & tranny of this car. It also did a great job of eliminating the leaks from the power steering rack.
