There are probably a thousand different alloys and heat treatments of stainless steel. And unless you get the right one, chances are it's a WEAKER product in terms of yield strength, etc., than the highly engineered fastener on your car. IF your exhaust stud had the nut installed with antiseize it should have come off without breaking the stud. If it broke when you tightened the nut during installation, there might have been a flaw in the steel or you overtightened it.
My point is that installing stainless steel fasteners is not always the right solution...it just sounds good.
Go to ARP.COM and research your real fastener needs rather than going for instant pudding (Thank you Dr. Deming).
