I can relate to the pain!! My hearts been aching for the past two months... I got my first SAAB this past April, '88 900T,5 spd, only 115K on it, beautiful in&out, garage kept by previous owner. I worked for a mechanic at the time, so I got simple maintenance stuff done, fluids & filters changed, belts replaced.... I fell in love with this car and I fell hard! If anyone asked me "how do you like the Saab" they had no idea what they were getting into! I couldn't say enough about the acceleration, control, manuverability, comfort.....
So here's the BIG BUT.... within a few weeks I got bad news. Three hydraulic engine mounts were bad,(the engine was shifting&jumping) therefore the waterpump was being damaged, the front crank pulley needed replacing and the CV Boots were leaking. This was all before the Ignition Rotor & Disrtibutor Cap went, finally the timing chain broke 4 days later!! Despite all this, when I was quoted $2500-$2800 to fix it...I was ready to start selling some furniture to pay for the repairs. Unfortunately my husband likes his sofa so.... I currently have the Saab wrapped up in my driveway just waiting for me to scrap up the money to get it going again!
Before finding The Saab Network, I had no clue the Saab addiction was so HUGE! I thought "I must be crazy...I'm friggin' in love with this old car!" Only to find I'm not the only one...
