Aside from bypassing a safety measure created to keep you and the car safe, you are asking if it is safe to raise a wind catching "sail" on a vehicle capable of going 125 MPH. Let's not forget to mention the "sail" can make the car unstable at speed. Let us also not forget that the hydraulics, which are prone to failure in these 10-18 year old convertibles, have to work extra hard against this extra wind resistance. Artificially raising the temperature of the brakes by driving with them on so as to warp your rotors is a fine idea too.
All to look cool to passerbyes?
Sure it's safe, just do me a favor. Don't drive anywhere near me.
