I am not a pilot, so I only offer conjecture. Aircraft engines either use different oil, or spend so much time at higher of colder altitudes that they need to start off at a different heat, or are such a different animal that they need to be treated differently.
I am not a pilot, and it seems to me we might be comparing apples and oranges. I am not sure. You probably know more about aircraft than I do.
Car oil will not sludge at 20F. Cars usually do not drive at altitudes above 5-7K so they operate in areas that are warmer. Maybe an aircraft servicing guy might know. If you have contact with those kind of guys, could you find out and shoot me an E-mail?
