the valve you speak of is located between the AMM and the turbo, very near the turbo inlet side. this valve will open to release air pressure from just before the throttle plate on the throttle body. this 'vent tube', for lack of a better word, will be one of two hoses attached to the throttle body at the intercooler side of the throttle plate. there should also be a small bore vacuum/pressure hose attached to the valve and one of the 'T' fittings on the air intake.
replacement is generally quite easy, requiring removal of two or three hose clamps to remove the valve. i dont recall if the AMM to turbo intake tube needs to be removed or not.
turbo bypass valve pricing is generally as follows-
$40 - OEM replacement (probably twice that from the dealer)
$50 - replacement unit with uprated spring installed
$100-$110 - stainless steel upgraded unit
