when compressed.
Has anybody else gotten a good look at their front springs under load?
Had 'em off my '88T to overhaul the upper control arms, looked fine when I put them back on the spring mounts, but Bentley manual says not to torque the spring mount bolt until the weight of the car is on it. So I did so, PITA, and would assume that the point of this is to orient the spring mount in the direction of actual compression while driving.
But with the front wheels up on blocks to change oil I see them compressing Not straight but bulging inward quite a bit. Dunno where they could go, but it just doesn't look right; Is this bad?
I did swap them right to left because the passenger side measured half an inch longer at rest than drivers' side, which I imagined was due to more frequent weight from a driver. Would that make them do this?
