Well you've got a long way to go.
I mean at 62k, you are 130,000 miles shy of me on the same year, same motor, is this a white four-door we're talking about by chance?

After ripping out the evaporator, I filled the space with the pollen filter, yes, its part number is 94 79 981. They're rare but they do still exist.
Also, jump together the wires where the under/overpressure switch on the reciever-drier used to be. They are a pair of insulated blue spade-lug connectors near the horns in the RF fenderwell. This tricks the AC relay into believing the AC is still there and running fine, and it turns your AC dash switch into an auxiliary cooling fan switch.
Isn't being able to see and reach your belts and water pump a nice thing??? I'm about to pull the AC on my '92 because it's a friggin upstate NY convertible folks, and I think AC is for p#%%es.

It's pretty easy to check the cold start valve. That has two hex screws holding it to the intake manifold (I can furnish pictures if you need 'em) and an electrical connector telling it when to fire and a fuel supply line. The procedure, as shown in the Bentley 8 valve book, is:
1. Cold engine (<65 F)
2. Remove cold start injector from throttle housing, but do not disconnect the electrical or fuel lines. Place the injector in a container.
(Warning, fuel will be expelled, have fire extinguisher, don't smoke, etc.)
3. Operate the starter and check that fuel sprays for a few seconds and then stop.
(Warning, the engine may start during this test, shut it off if necessary)
They then tell you to test the thermo-time switch (under thermostat)

Usually, my the rough-start problems on my car are caused by dirty throttle housing (restricts air flow), dirty metering body venturi plate (restricts air flow, weighs down sensor, over-richens mixture), or clogged fuel injectors (BG44K injector cleaner is a good idea; some persons also use Techron). If you are having idling problems, it's the idle regulation valve getting gunked up. Be it known that I've never had CSI problems so I don't know what the symptoms are there, but it's a logical first step. Either the engine's not getting enough fuel (clogged/faulty/poor wiring to CSI) or it's getting too much (throttle housing, metering plate dirty.)
Good luck. While you're out there, could you please tell me what the resistance across your warm up regulator contacts is when cold? I'm determined to own the first 8 valve in the family that doesn't do the chugging when started on a cool to warm day.
