My indy said this is a fairly common occurrence & only shows when part diameters start changing once everything warms up. He said the fix was to drop the side plates on the tranny & buff the burr out with emery cloth.
What do you mean by "Oil is ok"? I had a similar problem with my '90's 5th gear, but mine turned out to be related to gunked up gear oil. It looked OK on the dip pin, but drained out really dark & cruddy. It's happened twice in the 60k miles I've owned the car, & I've cleared it up both times by cleaning the tranny. The second time I even switched from a synthetic gear oil to a fake "synthetic" 5W-40 dual-rated (gasoline/diesel) engine oil. I used Auto-Rx to clean it out, then ran a short interval (1 yr) of 15W-40 & M1 10W-30 as a rinse before filling with 5W-40 "synthetic".
