cause your flywheel bearing is seizing, which causes the input shaft to continue spinning rather than stopping when you push the clutch pedal in, thus rotating the transmission . YOu get difficulting going into 1st and reverse when this happens.
be thankful you only have to replace that bearing - i didnt understand this interrelationship and yanked a perfectly good engine and tranny thinking the 1st gear synchro was shot.
so plan on a flywheel resurfacing and possible new clutch disc if yours is old. new throwout bearing would probably be a good idea too.
