Replacing the parking brake cables isn't horrendously difficult. It's pretty straightforward but it's a bit time-consuming.
You need to remove the driver's seat and take the console out. It also helps a bit to remove the rear seat bottom to give you some more room to route the cable under the rear carpet if you have a 3-door, but it's not absolutely necessary. For me, the most difficult parts were loosening the torx screw that holds a cable locating clip under the rear carpet and getting the rubber grommet that seals the cable to the hole in the floor pan that it passes through.
It takes about an hour and a half the first time.
