I flush the heater core. I disconnect the hose to the water pump at the control valve nipple. Disconnect the other heater hose at the bypass tube. Then I put a garden hose in the bypass hose to flush the core. I flush the block and radiator by removing the block drain plug under thr exhaust manifold and the radiator drain. Then I run a garden hose in the expansion tank till the water runs clean. It seems to get all the old coolant out in one operation.
