Dash under-panel removal

I just purchased a '93 900S (mfg '92) and am trying to replace the rusted out brake line that goes from under the dash on the drivers side to under the rear seat on the passenger side.
My repair manuals are on the way (none can be found where I live), meanwhile, I'll be durned if I can figure out how to remove the large padded panel that sits under the dash and is totally in the way. I did pull out the long skinny screws that go up into the dash from underneath -- still it won't budge. What's the trick?
Thanks,
Ted Pirsig
