I had a similar situation on my 87 8 valve. I fixed all the leaks, and it still lost a little coolant. It turned out to be the head gasket. No other obvious signs, no coolant in oil, no oil in coolant. The head gasket leak caused the coolant system to become over-presuurized, causing leaks atany weak spot in the system.the only symptom I found was bubbles coming through the small return tube to the reservoir tank. When the car was finally scrapped, I tore down the engine to find a break from one of the coolant passages into one of the cylinders.
Items I replaced, due to over-pressure in the system:
3 hoses (smaller ones)
coolant reservoir (twice)
water pump
radiator
thermostat
Even though the headgasket was bad, the car ran great with full power. I just had to watch the coolant tank and some every month.
