Boge's are the OEM shock for most C900s. SPGs after '86 (IIRC - please correct me if I'm wrong) had Sachs shocks. There are more different opinions about shocks than there are brands. Boge, Koni, KYB (gas-adjust and GR-2), Bilstein .... and the list goes on. It depends on what levels of performance and ride you're looking for and your tolerance of (or love for) feeling the road surface where you sit. You can't go wrong with Boges. You can check the classifieds - Gary Moore sells Konis. (Makes me wish I had money - I'd get a set.)
Ball joints - it's funny but the best non-oem ball joints are TRW. Oddly, some of the worst come in a TRW box, too (those have a stamped sheet-metal cover opposite the tapered bolt that goes into the steering knuckle - I think those are made in Italy). Just make sure that you get ball joints that don't have a stamped sheet-metal cover. If you have the money, you can't go wrong with OEM joints from the dealer.
If you can wait, you can order them from one of the site sponsors like Sobstory.com or eEuroparts.com, to name two.
