The broad topic of "fluids" is one of the most opinionated topics there is lol. EVERYONE thinks something different. I know Saab recommends 10w30, but I don't think 20/50 will blow it up.
Since you mentioned cold weather, I know you're not in a place where it's like 100 degrees all year. Even in summer, I'd say you'll still find it a bit hard shifting before the motor reaches full operating temp. Maybe quite difficult in the winter.
But, the other side of the coin....
Since Saabs are not know for indestructable trannys, a thicker oil may cause the tranny to get hotter than it normally would. I can't say for sure, it's possible. Maybe someone else can give an expert opinion lol.
