Sounds like a winner. Rust on the alternator bolts doesn't worry me a whole lot, if you're fastidious you will !!DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST AND!!! wire brush or steel wool the contact posts, lightly grease, and put it back together again.
Your belt squeal at startup just might be the crank pulley.

But overall, it sounds really nice. It is a car, though. For example, my current project is a '92 convertible in lustrous dark blue.
Things like this will test just how much you love it. It seems like every time I go to see the car (it's currently stored) I not only fix something but find something else that's broken. You can either get mad and get fed up with it or be patient, be willing to try something new that you don't know if you can do, learn a lot along the way, and have some fun. Work on it yourself as long as it is safe to do so, and be proud of your work because not only did you learn how to do something, but you did a better job than some mechanic worrying about clock time. Lube your fasteners, fix your own vacuum leaks, rip out your own AC (where wanted/needed) and stay cool.
