Left Upper Control Arm NIGHTMARE

Hello all...I am in the very unfortunate position of replacing my left upper control arm. My brother decided to mix a little too much Crown Royal with my 89' 900T Convertible during the holidays. He hit the biggest curb he could find...The result....4 broken 16' Borbet type C wheels, 4 blown tires (with 15 miles on them), 2 bent spindles, bent rear axle, totally tweaked left upper control arm.
I have all items repaired except for the wheels/tires. I can't seem to find a good looking aftermarket replacement wheel that fits properly, and the left upper control arm.
Left upper control arm replacement procedure:
Step 1...remove engine......WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
Has anyone here done this task? I have begun the long road to replacement last night....I had a hell of a time removing the suspension spring. I do have a feeling that this job can be done without actually removing the engine....albeit...by the time I have all the motor mounts disconnected, the alternator removed, possiply the brake booster...etc and the engine/trans shifted over far enough....I already did remove the engine in a sense. Just wanted to hear what any of you had to say about this. I'd really like to meet the person that made this design a reality in the C900....I have a size 9 for his ass. Any help you guys can provide would be wonderful....Take care and much thanks in advance!
