This happened to my best friends 85. We both have 85's he he. Anyway, I check his car up and down and couldn't find a thing wrong. pump, FPR, AIC, coil, bad wires, and so on. His dad came walking out to the shop and asked what were doing? Told him and he said what about the intake air sensor? I said I doubt it but what the hell. Swapped mine from my car into his and everything evened out!

He could not keep the eng running at idle. his would jump up and down till it stalled itself out. We could keep it running by hold the pedal down and keeping the RPM's above 2k. Same as you, he was coming home from work and all of a sudden, he lost power. eng would run, in gear but he could really go anywhere.

He ended up find a couple old used AMM's on ebay and bought 2. I thought it was weird how the AMM looked perfectly fine. all the little wires were there and no meltdown smell coming from the unit. But the facts were there, it's the AMM. I now carry an extra with me if I go anywhere of a great distance. Course that's a SAAB for ya, you have to love'em
