Electrical issue/belts/HB?

hey all! question regarding my '89 900T. i have noticed recently, especially since i upgraded the size of my subwoofer amplifier (i now run a kenwood with 800w max power driving a sony xplod 12") that my electrical system is not too happy. i have issues with the battery not holding as much charge as it used to; if i turn the car off after having run the stereo loud and the headlights and foglights on, when i go to restart it after a few hours, it labors a bit when it cranks.
i also have developed a squealing/psssshting sound that sometimes pulsates with engine sound and also pulsates with the beat of my subwoofer if the volume is up. this sound comes and goes, sometimes the car runs perfectly and makes no noise, sometimes it makes this one. seems to happen slightly more when the car is cold; not right at start-up, but usually a few minutes thereafter. would i be able to solve the nasty drain on my system by investing in a capacitor, or is my problem deeper than that? is this a belt issue, or a harmonic balancer, or somethin like that? i replaced the alternator belts last summer, could they be slipping yet? thanks for your input!
