For point of reference - I just picked up a '91 900 Convertible with 150k miles and good documentation:
Interior in very good shape.
Exterior (CA car) flawless.
Good tires.
Top 12mos old.
Trans rebuilt at 120k.
Clutch at same time.
Every time the car needed something it got it.
No long list of bad parts.
Front suspension in great shape.
Exhaust new at 140,000 miles.
It needs:
A new o2 sensor.
a 3" side seam on the driver's seat sewn.
A/C doesn't work - but I don't care...I didn't buy it to put the top up.
CarFax report was 100% clean.
Seller was asking $5,000.
I gave $2,200.
I am comfortable with the deal.
Where you are, there might be one person looking for a car with 193k miles on it. And you might be it. From a buyer's perspective, it doesn't matter how it looks or runs - you are in control because there are so few people that want a car with that many miles, much less a quirky Saab. And it doesn't matter how much the seller wants to get. The car is only worth what someone will pay to buy it.
