There are so many factors that affect what repairs a car is likely to need that it's nearly impossible to give you a good answer. If you never change the fluid in an automatic transmission and do smokey burnouts at every corner you'll probably need a transmission soon. If you drive it gently and take good care of it you may not need one until 200K. I see classic 900s with 500K still running great and I see them in the wrecking yard with 120K. If you're asking if it would be cheaper to get a new car then keep your car the answer is absolutely not. If you buy a new car with a payment of $400 a month, that's $4,800 a year times five years-- which is $24,000. You could drive your car for the next fifteen years on half that amount. Interest and depreciation are the big expenses--car repairs are dirt cheap in comparison.
