Wonderful Post! First, your courage must be complimented....since driving and owning a car in America is usually associated with high school days. Second, your humility must be admired since you fully confess to knowing nothing about the Saab. If you've not owned any car, I would presume the world of cars is rather foreign to you as well.

In finding Saabnet, you have come to the right place, amigo. Others will have many answers to your querry, but my advice is to get all the books you can regarding the history of Saab, and the mechanical makeup of these wonderful cars. There are several good Saab histories, I would defer to others which is the right choice for you now. For the mechanical background, I strongly urge you to purchase the Bentley shop manual, since it has wonderful photos and diagrams of all aspects of the car.

A second great source for your knowledge is the thick technical explanations for Saab design philosophy that the company issued every year. These are very colorful and explanatory in terms of Why Turbo? Why Front Wheel Drive? Why such a heavy body structure? Why 16 cabin air vents? Why this dash layout? and so forth. Some of the members may have an extra to offer you.

I've gone on long enough. Welcome to Saabs, and the Saab fraternity/sorority of enthusiastic owners. I consider your choice of car a great compliment to the marque. And please, bring all your questions and experiences here. I for one will be eager to see how it goes for you. GOOD LUCK !!
