Turbos had one less muffler, at least back in 8 valve days. The turbo muffler is very different as well; probably even less backpressure. Fitting a non-turbo exhaust on a turbo car (and vice versa) requires modifications.
You may want to patch the hole and drive it another year depending on how the rest of the system is holding up. During that time, you can stockpile parts for when it does finally let go.
Starla/Walker is a good brand; probably the same company that makes OEM parts. I tend to shy away from muffler shops- it's all in the metallurgy.
Usually exhaust holes get gradually larger over time and then give way. For example, I had holes in the catalyst flange and the over-axle pipe in my car a couple of years ago, so I kept my eye on them. They didn't get much worse in nine months, then the pipe suddenly failed where it enters the forward muffler- an entirely different spot.
The OEM turbo exhaust has a good sound to it. Other board posters have had bad experiences in backpressure with generic exhausts, something like "I had Monro Muffler put an exhaust on my car and now it only gets 22 MPG and doesn't go anywhere."
