I'm been tempted by those plastic dash covers for some time now. I was really hoping to see some responses here. I knew 900 dashes were prone to cracking, so I purchased a carpeted cover some 12 years ago -- even before my dash showed any signs of cracking. I never liked the looks of those things. I usually remove it when driving, other than really short trips (to the corner store fro milk). The carpet covers interfere with the sound from the speaker as well. The plastic "original-look" cover sounds really good! My fear is is will be too shiny and cheap looking and the leading exposed edge will look sloppy.
