Final question after LPT to FTP confersion!

I have done a compete conversion of a Italian LPT to a FPT with APC (1992, 16V). Qeustion: Why should I adjust the base boost level? I presumed that the APC was controlling the boost level and only dumps boost at a given max. level and that this maxlevel is not influensed by the base boost setting. Or am I using the (dumpvalve-) actuator outside spec if I don't change the base boost setting?
Thanks!
Kodjo
