Vanessa,
I believe the convertible starts in 1986. I happen to have one as well. This was the first year ever for a four-seat convertible. That's not just Saab, that is ever. Since the car is 19 years old this year there are going to be issues, but probably not the fried wiring as in the 85's.
You will deal with a tranny issue (rebuild or replace), typical things such as waterpump, alternator, starter, steering rack, hoses and belts, replacement of various relays and lights, heater valve, rubber seals around the convertible top, and, perhaps even a head gasket or turbo.
If any or all of these things has been taken care of and maintained you will enjoy a very solid, peppy piece of automotive history. If not, prepare to pay for or learn to do these exciting things. I wouldn't trade mine for the world.
Keep on SAABin
Tim
