Hello all....I just got back from my garage where my 89' Saab 900T Convertible rests. I am in the process of fixing/restoring/improving my absolutely beautiful white convertible. I am the 2nd owner of this wonderful car. The 1st owner was a multi-millionare....if the vehicle needed air in the tires...it got it from the Saab dealer nearest him. I literally have a phone book size foldder of receipts. To be honest the last 2 receipts in the folder were for more money than I paid for the ENTIRE car. Dont get me wrong this fellow was not stupid at all....he just had a larger bucket of money than most all of us are used to seeing and he used it.
SO........yes I am rambling....but telling a nice Saab story. Last year U decided to let my bro take the convert out instead of a rental (he flew in for the X-mas holiday)...he then proceeded to mix enough Crown Royal with a left turn....that wasn't there....i.e. he went up a SUPER big curb. He broke every Borbet type C wheel I had sans 1. Crossed the oncoming lane...up the embankment...etc...could've been really bad. The only thing he messed up was the car...which can be fixed....I am so thankful he did not injure someone else or himself...he had more than amble room to do both. He F'ed up the rims so badlu that the depression in each of them was hitting the caliper as it rotated around. HE drove it 1/2 a mile with 3 wheels hitting the brake calipers on each rotation. LOL....Funny but not funny.
SO I am now in the FINAL HOME STRETCH I have 17 inch wheels a 2inch drop (via Intrax)....a "new to me" SPG aero kit. APC mods... air filter mods, larger intercooler......put it this way I went from 8.0 PSI to 17.5PSI of APC protected TURBO boost. I AM JUST SO F'IN HAPPY with the car right now I cant stand it! I will post pictures soon...but I just wanted to share my Saabelation with all of you Saab-nuts out here. The car is almost ready to roll out of the garage and I simply cant wait..... The original white paint shines brilliantly without ONE SINGLE scratch....I am almot afraid of bringing this thing out of the O-R ( Operating Room)....as it were. May all of you fall in love as deeply as I have.....from what I have read over the years....many of you have and then some. What a wonderful car! SO strong, well thought out, so tasefully designed and just God-damned timeless.............can you hear me out there? I have owned many makes and models (Saabs included 6 in all to date), but none have pulled at my heart strings as this Saab. They are BEAUTIFUL cars....which leads me to my one question of this whole rant.
******* What do they/we classify our cars ( the 900 TC as? Is my convert Turbo a sports car? Is it something else? I'll tell you what...if it aint a sports car of some sort....just show me who says so and they will be able to easily repeat my license plate number by heart...........cause I can and will smoke many a vehicle with this old 900TC.
I LOVE THESE CARS........AND I KNOW YOU DO TOO......
JUST HAPPY TO BE ON THE PRECIPICE OF ROLLING MY BEAUTIFUL WHITE CONVERTIBLE OUT OF THE GARAGE. I promise I will have photos of the before and after persuasion. I just returned from said garage and I am just as excited as I have always been when I started this project. Take care all of you SAABNUTS..............sorry of this was long, but I meant every word. I think you might have an idea of what I am feeling.
Take care;
Dave Squillace
