I bought a '92 in October, stored and worked on it through the winter, and will finally get to drive it in another week or two.
I didn't buy the car for resale value or performance or percieved "brand imagery," I bought it to have fun. I'm also going to keep it until it dies, hopefully a long time. I want a (dark blue) piece of Saab history, and I found it. Now part of the project and the challenge is to make the car mine and make the car perfect, which I do through this board, technical knowledge, and lots and lots of time.
Search posts back a week or so to my reply "now this is longish" to JordanP's posting about having a Saab problem.
I avoid automatics like the plague unless you plan to pull the motor and change it over.
I'm not sure about options; audio upgrades were limited to CD (std on turbos?) and equalizer (std on some turbos?) They all had power stuff (windows, locks, mirrors, seats, top) and an immobilizer-alarm. They all had ABS and driver's airbags. They all had cruise control and a decent radio and air conditioning; none had auto climate control (on a convertible?) and all had alloy wheels. They all had leather.
A few exclusive variations include the "Springtime in Sweden" models in 1991 with SPG-esque skirting (yellow or grey only) and the 1994 Comemmorative Edition turbos (325 produced, numbered, last of the classics, special leather and woody trim, 185 HP motor, greyed rims, all black and tan tops, all 5 speed). I think Turbos got different tires, V-rated or such.
