Some general questions about my '88 900T convertible Posted by Steve Schwedland [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I bought this car last fall for $300 to fix up using parts from my wrecked '89 900TC, turned out that I was able to get it running in the guys driveway and drive it home (he was not very happy about that, it took me about 30 min of tinkering). I quickly realized that many (most?) of the mechanical and most of the electrical parts from the '89 car will not work on the '88 car, Saab seems to have made a number of significant changes between the '88 and '89 convertibles. Does that mean that the changes came in '88 for the hardtops? I guess I mean, should I look for '87 and older hardtops for parts for an '88 convertible?
A couple other questions that have come up are:
1. Is the LH 2.4 so much better that I should consider replacing the LH 2.2 that is in the '88? I liked being able to pull codes on the '89, but that is a "nice to have" not a "must have".
2. Is there anything else I should "upgrade" while I still have the wrecked '89 sitting next to my house? Keep in mind that the neighbors are starting to get a little upset and the city may come by at any moment and tell me to get rid of it. VBG
