I have been having this situation for a number of months now. I turn the key to start and get nothing...no crank. Sometimes it is just fine however. I have found that in those instances where the starter does not kick in if I hold the key in the "start" position for a few seconds, turn it back off, and then try again, the starter kicks right over. I have replaced the starter and solenoid, wired in a Ford-style solenoid to get full voltage to the starter, new battery cables, and replaced the ignition switch. About the only thing left is the wire running from the ignition to the starter.

It makes no difference on the outside temperature, although it does seem to work better when the car has been driven recently. First thing in the morning it usually does not crank over.

Which wire is it from the ignition switch that runs to the spade terminal on the starter?
