How do you turn the ignition switch to engage the start contacts??? - usually by turning the key, but if it doesn't turn far enough...the momentary contacts (start position)will not electrically complete the path. The ignition switch is actuated by the ignition lock assembly which is coupled together with a slot. Trouble shoot the switch assembly by using a voltmeter by disconecting the spade terminal and check for voltage multiple times as you turn off/on using the key. If it works 100% of the time, then the power actuating the solenoid is good. If it works less than 100% of the ime, then you need to go back to the ignition switch/lock assembly. You could have a worn/bent coupling between the lock and switch. Do you still have the old ign switch which will help you figure out which terminal goes to the solenoid? If not, I have a shifter assembly that I can check for the color and terminal position.
