Window motor fix

My driver's side window has been getting slower and slower and stopped a few times, requiring me to help it up. I got a motor off ebay to replace the old one. However the new motor didn't fit since the screw holes were in slightly different locations and it would not attach to the regulator and line up with the gear teeth. (The old one was a metal-housing motor from an '87 while the new one was a plastic housing motor from a '91). So I took the old motor apart using the 2 screws that attach the part with the electrical connections to it to the main motor, and just replaced that with the corresponding new part. I also sprayed a lot of degreaser in the motor and emptied it out and replaced it with silicone spray, then put it all back together. Works like a champ now (though now my window rolls up the 'normal' way not the Saab way when using the switch).
Just thought I'd post an alternative to taking the whole motor apart (since that requires undoing rivets and replacing with screws which might be beyond my abilities and tools).
