The motor is only part of the problem Posted by Steve Schwedland [Email] (#2368) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Steve Schwedland) on Mon, 11 Apr 2005 11:54:58 In Reply to: Window motor fix, Brian, Mon, 11 Apr 2005 05:19:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Check out the TwinSaabs site. Under the 'DIY Pages' link you will find a selection for 'DIY Slow Windo Syndrom'. Read that, they do a good job of explaining everything.
When I tackle the windows, I pull the whole mechanism out and clean all of the old grease off with spray brake cleaner. Then I pull the window motor assembly apart and do the same. I put grease in back in the motor gears and put it all back together. I use a spray lube that I use on bicycle chains for the mechanism and then put it all back in the car. This has always done the trick for me and I've never had to rebuild the motor itself.
