Project is moving right along. I could only put in half a day today because of work elsewhere, but I did manage to lower the bad box without too much trouble using a hydraulic jack and blocks of wood and plywood and bricks and a prybar. I basically built a three point tower of layered stuff to hold it, then lower it one level at a time. Took about an hour once the remaining bolts were removed. With just two hous of daylight remaining, I quickly got the "new" box in place and began lifting it up one level at a time, using the hydraulic jack, plus the stock Saab jack... until it started raining! In So Cal no less! So with just three inches remaining and all systems go, I had to stop and pack away all the tools, slide everything under the car, or in the trunk or backseat. Oh, did I say I'm working outside? If it's still raining tomorrow I'm draping a large tarp overhead and continue on.
No real surprises today as far as the tranny went, but while looking up from below I did notice a slice in the metal tubing which runs from the turbo to the custom front mounted intercooler! While examining, with but the slightest touch the metal broke through. If it wasn't leaking, it was only a matter of time. Now I have to figure out how it got there in the first place! Since it's such a small hole, I'm considering using JB weld. Otherwise I have to fabricate a new piece.
