You might want to consider replacing the Fuel Pressure Regulator. It's one mechanical part in the fuel system (besides the fuel pump) that's subject to physical wear - weakening spring, worn seat, punctured diaphragm. When these things wear, more gas than necessary gets to the cylinders.
The test for a punctured diaphragm is to take the vacuum hose off the FPR and see if there's gas spitting out of it. That's not a 100% test for a failed FPR, because it's only one failure mode.
