Re: tools needed to pull a tranny? Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: tools needed to pull a tranny?, michael ![]() |
When I pulled one last year, I had my full sets of sockets, a breaker bar, crowbar, a bunch of torx bits, a set of allen wrenches for the slave cylinder, and the pressure plate spacer tool.
The spacer tool, although it's not absolutely necessary, it's nice to have because it makes it a lot easier to remove the pressure plate.
The engine lifts the places usually have aren't high enough to lift the unit over the radiator support, so be prepared to remove the radiator support, grille, etc to get it through. The good thing is that the ATL pick-n-pulls have the cars up high so you can slide underneath them easily.
For the shift coupler, you'll want a 1/4" ratchet with (IIRC) a 10-mm socket.
The weather forecast for this weekend indicates scattered thunderstorms, so have some wet gear and be prepared to move when one of these things comes runbling up.
Which one are you headed to? I might be out at one of them on Saturday.
