OK, I'll fess up... it was me... I was too ashamed to use my real name... but now that I figured it out, I decided to come clean...

Yeah, I'm a dumb ass... I didn't see the actual timing orifice that was referred to in the bently manual, due to all of the plumbing... I was looking at the little hole that allowed you to peer down in to the clutch housing.... Once I found the right one, I took everybodies advice and just cleaned the surface with a brass wire brush before I even started screwing around with the distributer...

Yeah, I wound up being off by about 8 degrees...

In retrospect, it's absolutely amazing how much better the car runs when the timing is set right...
