with the engine out it's a great time to do the crank seals, harmonic balancer, water pump and anything else that looks like it would be hard to get to with the engine in. it's all a question of how much you want to spend.

transmission is an intense project but on the bright side you wouldn't have to pull the pinion bearing. although at that point if you don't know the history of the tranny, you might as well do that too. it's not that much more work. have fun, take your time and be very patient. there are a couple of people on here who could do a tranny with their eyes closed and hands tied behind their backs. if you do it and have questions - this is definately the place to come.
