i guess since no-one else is helping i'll have to give it more thought.
please check the operation of the vacuum advance - with engine off, did you suck and blow on the line? it should hold pressure either way if the diaphragm is 'holding' air.
Assuming good diaphragm, engine speed should increase when vacuum is applied - if it does not work the vac advance mechanism could be stuck, and that will cause some problems with acceleration. Please tell what the result of this test was.
Obviously you have visually checked that pressing the gas pedal operates the throttle cable, and that manually operating the throttle cable opens the throttle plate, right? if not, take off intake tubing leading to intake manifold and watch to make sure mechanism is working.
ps is this a turbo 900?
