One thing you can try which hasn't been discussed much Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Cycle NM - describe the symptoms, CycleNM, Wed, 20 Jul 2005 10:23:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
is taking the APC solenoid off and giving it a good, thorugh cleaning inside with carb cleaner to dissolve old oil that might be gunking it up. A couple of years ago, there were a few people who posted that this helped them get out of the base boost doldrums.
You can also pry the brown top off of the APC solenoid and clean it. Be careful, there's a small spring inside that might want to get away. You'll want to remember the orientation of the spring in the piston. I use a dull, old utility knife blade to get in between the body of the solenoid and the top to pry it open. (Use all of the standard precautions when doing this to keep from damaging yourself when doing this.) The APC solenoid just snaps back together. There are tabs in the top and body to keep the orientation correct.
It's worth a try.
Sometimes the connector from the harness has an intermittent connection, too.
If all that doesn't work, then maybe the APC box has a cracked solder joint.
