A/C pressures are very coarse measurments. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: What should AC pressure be in non-running car?, kyle morley, Tue, 2 Aug 2005 14:39:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The pressure in a static stage system is around 70-80Psi on both sides but it is also much the same if it is full (2 lb) or almost empty (1/2lb left in the system).
It also highly depend on what the outside temp is where you are located.
Charging a system only using pressure gauge readings are also very difficult and should not be used on modern cars. On the old big American cars where it all started it didn't really matter that much if you over or underfilled the system with a 1lb but more modern cars are a little bit finnicky with the right amount of freon.
The proper way is to evacuate the system and fill it up with a measured amount of freon, 2.2 lb if using R12 and about 1.8lb if using R134a.
