hello i just put the copper stuff in my honda cause it was leaking water out the head and it blow the engine... totally dead....
i also just put a head gasket on a 300e mercedes... it was a great experience... it was not as bad as you think...
let me give you a few pointers...first there is a metal rim around the piston part of the headgasket... so no water will flow over to the piston.
secondly there are other holes and you have oil migrating over to a water hole... you can drive it this way for as long as you want... just watch for water in the piston and water in the oil....
there are levels of this repair....
1st you might just try torking the bolt about 1/4 turn near where you suspect the leak....after all worst case is to do a headgasket...
2ndly you can just replace the head gasket...
3rd you can send the head out have it redone and also do the head gasket.
4th you can pop out the pistons and add rings and bearings as well...
there is a new type of ring that has no gap....so it depends on how much cash you have and how much you love the car....
5th option is to buy a used motor... real cheap on ebay....so do a realistic assesment of your mechanical ability... can you change brakes...
